Healing Is

Self-Love

  • Black Women experience sexual harm at significant rates. And it impacts their overall health and well-being.

  • Negative stereotypes, oversexualization of Black Women and Girls, or blaming the victim can worsen the impact of trauma and make healing even more difficult.

  • Trauma related to sexual assault can show up as depression, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion or numbness. Trauma can affect concentration/ability to focus; work/school performance, intimate relationships, friendships and self esteem.

Impact of Trauma

Survival is not the same as healing

Healing doesn't mean forgetting what happened.

Healing means learning you deserve

safety, care, and healthy love.

Healing is a journey of restoring

wholeness. It involves acceptance,

forgiveness, and nurturing oneself with

care and compassion.

Healing Matters

Healing is an act of strength.

Healing looks different for everyone and can include:

  • Rest

  • Supportive groups

  • Trusted friendships

  • Spirituality/Faith

  • Therapy or counseling services

  • Dance/movement

  • Journaling

  • Creative expression

But it’s important to focus on self-love.

Self-love is the foundation that supports true and lasting healing.

Embrace Your Healing Journey

START SMALL

  • Begin with one small act of self-love today.

PRIORITIZE WELL-BEING

  • Set healthy boundaries.

  • Remember that it is okay to rest.

  • Practice mindful self-care and listen to your needs.

REMEMBER...

  • Make your healing a daily commitment.

  • Healing is an act of self-love.

The Power of Healing Through Self-Love

Healing starts with You.

Accepting Yourself.

Forgiving Yourself.

Loving Yourself.

You Do Not Have To Heal Alone
